DESCRIPTION
Among the improvements over the 1970s models are a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, a ceramic bezel insert, and significantly increased water resistance. Whereas the original watches were rated to approximately 200m, this version is water-resistant to 300m (1000ft), making it suitable for serious diving and demanding professional environments.
ELVIA was an officially authorised supplier to the Marine Nationale alongside other well-known military contractors including Beuchat, Tudor, Rolex, Heuer, Auricoste, Triton and ZRC.
The watch measures 40mm excluding the crown (45mm including the crown) and is fitted with a 20mm military nylon webbing strap compatible with NATO-style straps.
Sapphire Crystal
This watch is fitted with a sapphire crystal rather than standard mineral glass. Sapphire is exceptionally hard and highly resistant to scratching and impact damage, which is why it is commonly used on higher-end watches and equipment intended for demanding professional use.
